Nigeria Striker Asisat Oshoala Extends Contract With Barcelona

Barcelona striker Asisat Oshoala has extended her contract with Spanish Primera Division side until June 2024.

The 27-year-old, who is four times African Women’s Player of the Year, has scored 80 goals in 101 appearances since joining the Blaugranes in January 2019.

“I am very happy to continue with the world’s best team. Not just for the football, but because off the pitch they are also best at looking after players and helping them to continue improving,” she told Barca website.

“I am a forward and I want to carry on scoring goals. The aim is continue developing and to be happy”.

Oshoala is currently the leading goal scorer in the Primera Division with 16 goals in 19 games.

She had initially joined Barca on a six-month loan from Chinese outfit Dalian Quanjian, before making the move permanent in May 2019.

Oshoala started her  football career back in Lagos where she played for FC Robo and Rivers Angels before joining English side Liverpool in 2015.

In 2016, she joined Arsenal,where she won the FA Cup, and in 2017 she headed to China, where she signed for Dalian Quanjian.

She has won the African Cup of Nations four times, played in the World Cup  two times, and was a runner-up at the U20 World Cup in 2014, a tournament which also saw her win the Golden Boot for top scorer and the Golden Ball for best player.
