Feghouli: We Choked Senegal

Galatasaray and Algeria’s Sofiane Feghouli says the Desert Foxes choked up Senegal to come out of the duel unscathed.

Galatasaray and Algeria’s Sofiane Feghouli says the Desert Foxes choked up Senegal to come out of the duel unscathed.

A 1-0 score settled it, assuring Algeria a place in the last 16 via a Mohamed Youcef effort in the 49th minute.

Tonight’s win had gaffer Djamel Belmadi accomplishing his first task of going past the group stages.

“The coach did a great job. We knew how they would play. We choked them. Algeria played with its values. We played like men. We played very well, we soaked up our jersey,” the 29-year-old former Valencia and West Ham United’s skipper said.

Sofiane featured from start to finish much like he did in the 2-0 whacking of Kenya last Sunday.

Up next for the North Africans is a meeting with Tanzania next Monday with gaffer Belmadi expected to field a second-string outfit.
