Ayew Doubtful for Cameroon Match

Ghana head coach Kwesi Appiah has revealed that captain Andre Ayew is a doubt for Saturday’s African Cup of Nations group F match against Cameroon.

Ayew picked an injury in training and was largely expected to miss the game against the Indomitable Lions due to the injury.

Appiah has however downplayed the injury saying the player has a chance of playing but things will be clearer after Friday’s training session.

“Andre Ayew has a small medical problem. He trained this morning and he will train this afternoon as well, but as to whether he will play or not, I can’t give you that information now. His availability for the game will depend on today’s [second] training,” he said.

Ghana will also miss the services of defender John Boye who was sent off against the Gambia on Tuesday.

“Unfortunately John Boye cannot be part of the team but we have other players that can step in,” he added.
