Ugandan Defender Savio Kavugo Delighted With AS Vita Move

Ugandan defender Savio Kabugo has expressed delight over his move to Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) after signing for African giants AS Vita.

The center back was confirmed as a Black Dolphins player on Friday, signing a three-year contract that will ensure that he remains at Linafoot outfit until 2021.

Speaking to the media, Kabugo revealed that he is thrilled to be playing for one of the biggest teams in DR Congo and the African continent.

“I thank the Almighty God for this great opportunity and everyone who has played a role in this move to happen,” said Kabugo.

“I have not come here just for the sake, but I have come here to write history with Vita because they are an African giant and Í believe I have got all that it takes to be here.”

The 23-year-old, who is remembered for his lone strike Cranes against Ghana Black Stars in 2014, becomes the second Ugandan player to have played for the club after Yunus Sentamu, who featured for the same side in four years ago.

Kabugo, enjoyed a stellar first-half of the 2018/19 season of Ugandan Premier League at SC Villa and is now in line to play against Al Ahly of Egypt in a Group D opening game of 2018/2019 Africa Champion League in a fortnight.

AS Vita were runners-up in the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup to add to their 2004 second place finish in the CAF Champions League and are tipped as serious contenders for this season’s Caf Champions League.
