Wrestler Suspended for Protesting 7 million Deduction Pardoned

Wrestler Lac de Guier II has had his one-year ban by the Senegalese wrestling body lifted.

Wrestler Lac de Guier II has had his one-year ban by the Senegalese wrestling body lifted, Ducor Sports understands.

Lac was slapped with a one-year ban April this year for protesting after he got deducted a whopping seven million.

The ban followed his uncomplimentary remarks toward the federation and referees whom he accused of master-minding his defeat to Modou Lo.

Christened Papis, the Guediawye-based wrestler bit the dust to Modou Lo in a 30-minute combat on 3-1 warnings.

In a fit of anger, Lac called the wrestling governing body a “gang of thieves” for deducting seven million CFA from his prize money –the biggest sum to be subtracted from a wrestler’s income related to indiscipline.

The situation triggered a saga as debate simmered over how money taken from wrestlers via warnings are deducted and spent.

Talks are ongoing between a delegation of wrestlers including the sport governing entity and the Senegalese ministry of sports over finding an amicable solution to the saga.

However, Papis has now been pardoned after he filed an appeal seeking his suspension be rescinded.

He is now tipped to face Pikine-based Boy Niang who defeated Balla Gaye’s sibling Sa Thies.
