Two Football Players Pass Away In Team Bus Accident In Guinea

Guinean football has been left to mourn after the death of Wakirya Athletic Club forward Alfred Kargabo and defender Emmanuel Camara in a team bus accident.

The players were part of 21 travelling from Friguiadi on Monday night where they featured in a Ligue 1 league game against Lougha FC.

According to Foot 224 portal report, the tyre of the vehicle the players were travelling in burst and the driver lost control.

While Kargabo and Camara died on the spot, seven other players were sent to a nearby hospital and so far five of them have since been discharged with minor injuries with one still in a serious condition.

Reacting to the unfortunate development, Wakirya AC management sent condolences and shared the details of the accident on their official portal.

“Our condolences to the family, friends, relatives and loved ones of the deceased. This is a tragedy and something that we would not like to experience again. But we would like to say to the families of the two players who have passed to be strong in this hour of need,” reads the statement as translated from French.

As a result of the two players passing, Guinean football authorities are reported to have suspended the next round of league fixtures, which will now be played on Tuesday instead of Saturday.
