Tunisia’s Esperance Signs Cameroonian Star

Tunisian league holders Esperance Sportive du Tunis, have finally acquired the services of Cameroonian midfielder Franck Kom on a three-year deal that will see him remain at the club until June 2020.

Esperance announced the completion of the contract after the 26-year-old passed a medical in the Tunisian capital to shrug off competition from rivals, Etoile du Sahel.

Etoile initially claimed that they had landed the coveted player’s signature on a three-year deal which ensued into an awkward drama aimed at thwarting Esperance’s efforts to pursue Kom. But in the heat of the moment, the Cameroonian swiftly debunked the claim.

Representatives of both clubs exchanged blows at the Tunis International Airport after a row ensued over who the player signs for.

Capitalizing on the public embarrassment heaped on Etoile, Esperance sneaked in to process talks between club and player, slapping a lucrative offer the midfielder could not turn down.

Meanwhile, the arrival of the Bafoussam-born playmaker is also expected to bolster Esperance’s ranks as the Tunisians target the Total CAF Champions League title.
