Tunisian Club Etoile Du Sahel in Crisis as Two of Its Assistant Coaches are Sacked

Tunisian Premier League Club, Etoile Du Sahel have gotten rid of two under-fire head coach (Hubert Velud) assistants. The French gaffer has come under intense scrutiny making his position untenable with a possible vacancy likely to open soon.

The 58-year-old couldn’t take Etoile beyond the semis of the Total CAF Champions League losing to Egypt’s Al Ahly 7-4 on aggregate. Many expected his sacking before Monday amidst claims that the board already inquired with a number of coaches in the division over his replacement.

The erstwhile former French footballer isn’t expected to see out the ongoing season with his dismissal reportedly imminent. In a sign of how increasingly alienated he has become, the board yesterday opted to sack two of Velud’s trusted assistants – Ridha Jeddi and Seif Gezhal.

The two are the latest to be shown the exit door following the axing of Zied Jaziri as Sports Director, in a major clear-out.

In the latest development on Sunday, club president Ridha Charffedine has sought the opinion of the side’s former players in a desperate measure to resolve the crisis threatening to rip the team and club apart.

Etoile now only have the league title to fight for, sitting second on the table log, three points behind joint table-topping Esperance du Tunis and CA Bizertin.
