Sundowns Confirm Trio Of Signings Ahead Of New Season

Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed the signing of Bidvest Wits trio of Haashim Domingo, Ricardo Goss and Gift Motupa ahead of the 2020/21 Dstv Premiership season.

Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed the signing of Bidvest Wits trio of Haashim Domingo, Ricardo Goss and Gift Motupa ahead of the 2020/21 Dstv Premiership season.

All the three players have penned five-year contracts and they now take the Brazilians new signings to five, having previously unveiled George Maluleka, Peter Shalulile and Mothobi Mvala.

The Tshwane giants are expected to complete more deals for Reshine De Rueck , Aubrey Modiba and Kermit Erasmus.

The 25-year old Domingo is a product of the Ajax Cape Town academy but was released on bad terms in 2015.

He joined Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes, where he became a regular for the club’s reserve team before Wits snapped him up at the start of the 2018/19 season.

“Mamelodi Sundowns is a club with great history and I would love to be part of that history and not just to be part but to contribute to the club history and success. I want to win silverware with the club, that’s the main focus”, Domingo told Sundowns website.

Goss, who turned 26 in April this year, was a key for Wits as they managed to finish fourth on the log table with 52 points despite the news of the sale of the club to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM).

“It has been a childhood dream for me to join the club and one of my idols Brian Baloyi played for the club. I want to make sure that I win trophies many trophies I can with the club especially the CAF Champions League and add the second star,” said Goss.

The young gloves man who had a stint at Golden Arrows will have to fight hard for the number one jersey at Sundowns with Denis Onyango, Kennedy Mweene and Jody February.

Motupa, who turned for Chippa United before joining Wits, was close to a move to Tshwane giants earlier this year but the deal failed to materialize.

“It is a great feeling to join Mamelodi Sundowns, I am feeling happy and proud, they have been doing well for the past five years. I’m looking forward to doing well for myself, the club and the fans and what attracted me is that the club is always winning trophies every season and also they play in the CAF Champions League,” Motupa told the club website.

Motupa scored 12 goals in 25 matches across all competitions for the club in the recently concluded season – including five in the league and six in the CAF Confederation Cup.

In the last two years, the 25-year-old has scored 23 goals in 50 appearances and enjoyed his time under the stewardship of former coach Gavin Hunt.
