Cameroon Striker Vincent Aboubakar Completes Besiktas Transfer

Cameroon striker Vincent Aboubakar has completed his transfer from Porto to Besiktas, the Turkish Super Lig side announced on Saturday.

Cameroon striker Vincent Aboubakar has completed his transfer from Porto to Besiktas, the Turkish Super Lig side announced on Saturday.

The 28-year-old, who was omitted from Indomitable Lions squad for upcoming friendlies, joins the Black Eagles for an undisclosed fee.

Aboubakar joined Porto in 2014 from French side Lorient and once spent one season on loan with his new club Besiktas.

“We welcome Vincent Aboubakar, who has a share in the Super League championship when we won 2016-17 title. Wish him success,” Besiktas wrote on their official website as translated from Turkish.

The length of the contract has not been made public but sources close to the player indicate he put pen to paper a three-year-deal.

He was also wanted by France Ligue One side St. Etienne, who were last month said to be the front runners to sign him.

The move failed to materialize due to the striker’s demands as well as Porto’s asking price.

During his loan stint at Besiktas, Aboubakar scored 19 goals in 38 appearances to help the Besiktas win the Turkish Super Lig title.

Aboubakar has 67 caps for Cameroon and brings a wealth of experience to Black Eagles, having had spells at Lorient and Valenciennes in France.
