Former Zambia International Appointed Zesco United Coach

Former Zambia national team midfielder Numba Mumamba has been appointed head coach of FAZ/MTN Super League giants Zesco United.

Former Zambia national team midfielder Numba Mumamba has been appointed head coach of FAZ/MTN Super League giants Zesco United.

The 42-year-old succeeds George Lwandamina who was shown the door earlier this week following the club’s poor performance in the recently concluded 2019/20 season.

According to the Ndola-based club, Mumamba has signed a three-year deal.

Zesco United took to social media and official website on Friday to unveil the former Zanaco tactician as their new coach.

“Numba Mumamba will take over as head coach of ZESCO United from the 2020/2021 FAZ/MTN Super League season signing a three-year contract,” the club posted.

Mumanba is one of the best coaches in Zambia having won the FAZ/MTN Super League title in 2016, Absa Cup championship in 2017 and reaching the group stage of both the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup with Zanaco.

The new coach will be assisted by former Young Africans and Buildcon Football Club assistant coach, Noel Mwandila and Emmanuel Siwale.

Mumamba joins Zesco at a time when the Zambian Super League giants are plotting their return to the summit of the Zambian game having surrendered the 2019/2020 Super League title to Nkana.
