Ugandan midfielder Hashim Ssempala has ditched Kenyan Premier League side, Tusker FC for rivals, Gor Mahia.

Ugandan midfielder Hashim Ssempala has ditched Kenyan Premier League side, Tusker FC for rivals, Gor Mahia.

The defensive midfielder reportedly fell out with coach Robert Matano leading to his unceremonious exit from the Ruaraka based Brewers.

Ssempala had two months left in his contract with Tusker but Gor moved to complete a deal for the former BUL FC man due to the standoff between the player and the veteran tactician.

Gor announced his capture through a tweet on their official handle @OfficialGMFC.

“Gor Mahia sign midfielder Hashim Ssempala from Tusker. The Ugandan signed a two-year deal. Welcome to Gor Mahia midfielder Hashim Ssempala,” read the tweet.

The former KCCA and BUL FC man joined Tusker FC in June 2016 under compatriot, Paul Nkata. He won the league and Gotv Shield titles in his first season at Ruaraka.

In 2019, he was named Tusker skipper replacing Duncan Ochieng. He fell out with coach Matano shortly after and was banished from training and playing for the team.

At Gor Mahia, he’ll compete with the likes of Ernest Wendo and Kenneth Muguna for that holding midfield role.
