Simba Announce The Signing of Gor Mahia Defender

Tanzania Premier League giants Simba Sports Club have announced the signing of former Gor Mahia defender Joash Onyango.

Tanzania Premier League giants Simba Sports Club have announced the signing of former Gor Mahia defender Joash Onyango.

The 27-year-old spent four seasons with K’Ogalo before he parted ways with the club a fortnight ago due to unpaid salaries.

The Harambee Stars defender has now found a new club for the 2020/2021 campaign after penning a two-year deal with Simba, who will be defending their domestic title.

“Former Gor Mahia center-back Joash Onyango has signed a two-year-contract with Tanzania Mainland Champions,” reads a statement from the Tanzanian club.

“Onyango who can also play in the flanks joins Pascal Wawa, Erasto Nyoni and Kennedy Juma in strengthening the back line.”

The versatile defender joined Gor Mahia in 2017 from Western Stima and won the coveted Kenyan Premier League (KPL) Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award at the end of the 2018/19 season.

The Shamberere High School graduate becomes the latest player to cross from Kenyan champions for Simba after Francis Kahata and Meddie Kagere.

Onyango made a total of 25 appearances across all competitions for Gor Mahia last season.
