Senegalese U-23 Coach Loses Cool in Post-game Interview After Exit

Senegal’s U-23 gaffer Joseph Koto this week lost his cool after getting irritated by a question in the aftermath of his side’s exit.

Senegal’s U-23 gaffer Joseph Koto lost his cool this week after getting irritated by a question in the aftermath of his side’s exit.

The Lions Dream Team suffered a 2-1 humbling to Guinea Conakry in the first meeting before drawing goalless in the second-leg in Dakar which left them packing.

And offering to explain to journalists what went wrong, the 59-year-old lost his temper in the process and nearly stormed out of the conference room.

Elucidating on what triggered the exit, Koto also rued his team’s profligacy in front of goal.

“It’s a big disappointment. We could not win here and it’s a shame because we had concrete opportunities and the opportunity to score goals but it’s football, it’s like that,” he said.

He continued: “Sometimes you do everything possible but it’s not an exact science. To dominate is not to win. We dominated the whole game, we missed goal chances. In the first leg, we could have killed off the match, we had opportunities late in the game but we did not seize them.”
