Saintfiet Names Gambia Provisional Squad For Upcoming Friendlies

Gambia national team head coach Tom Sainfiet has named a provisional squad of 40 players for the upcoming international friendlies.

Gambia national team head coach Tom Sainfiet has named a provisional squad of 40 players for the upcoming international friendlies.

The Scorpions will face Guinea on 13th October at Estadio Algarve where they are reported to have plans to face Guinea-Bissau or Mozambique at a date to be announced soon.

Among notable names in the Gambia squad include Celtic FC transfer target Omar Collley and FC Bologna duo of Musa Barrow and Musa Juwara.

Influential midfielder Hamza Barry who turns for Croatian outfit Hadjuk Split and Sweden-based Bubacarr Jobe will be missing in action due to injuries whereas Ibou Touray has preferred his club ahead of the national team.

The Scorpions will enter camp on Monday 5th October in Algarve, Portugal to start preparations for the upcoming back-to-back 2021Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Gabon in November.

The Gambia are currently leading their AFCON qualification group with 4 points ahead of Gabon, DR Congo and Angola.
