Libya Appoint Ali El Margini As Head Coach

The Libya Football Federation (LFF) has officially named Ali El Margini as the head coach of senior national team.

The Libya Football Federation (LFF) has officially named Ali El Margini as the head coach of the senior national team.

Margini takes over from Faouzi Benzarti whose contract as manager of the Mediterranean Knights expired in April.

His main task will be to lead Libya to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Margini’s first competitive game will be in November against Equatorial Guinea in Tunis.

Libya began their 2021 campaign with a 4-1 loss to Tunisia before beating Tanzania 2-1 in their second Group J match.

The LFF also appointed Ahmed Senfaz as assistant coach to Margini, while former international goalkeeper Moftah Ghazala will have the goalkeepers’ coach job.

Margini was the assistant to Benzarti during his time with the side, and also had another stint six years ago where he served as deputy to former Libya coach Abdulhafith Arbish.

Libya shares the Group J’s second position Tanzania which also has 3 points as Tunisia tops the group with 6 points and Equatorial Guinea with zero points.
