Paul Pogba Shows Gratitude Through Holy Pilgrimage

Manchester United and French international, Paul Pogba has produced a good sense of trust at Old Trafford after helping the club win two trophies – League Cup and for the first time in the club’s history, the UEFA Europa League.

To show gratitude, the midfielder took to his social media posting plans of his journey intended “to say thank you” for the 2016/17 season.

The 24-year-old then stirred up social media and attracted over 2.1 million likes and over 1,500 comments even though he did not initially hint on his destination until Sunday, May 28 when he posted a photo and video of himself in the Islamic Holy City of Makkah on his social media handles.

One of his photos which showed a sea of pilgrims walking all the way around the Kabbah, also showed Pogba in the foreground standing atop with a view of the Holy Mosque, Al-Kabbah.

It captioned, “Ramadan Kareem.”

Another shows him standing close to the Holy Mosque in ground view of it, captioned, “Most beautiful thing I’ve seen in my life,” in addition to a 9-seconds video recording a Quranic recitation in the background.

The photo reveals Pogba dressed in the white two-piece cloth worn by Muslim male pilgrims during pilgrimage while attending Umrah, a non-mandatory Muslim pilgrimage.

It is also reported that the most expensive footballer in history last summer, visited Mecca at least once before when he performed the Hajj, a journey every healthy adult Muslim who can afford is required to make at least once in their lives.

Pogba who returned on a five-year deal to former club United from Juventus for a world-record fee of £89.3 million comes on the brink of a new dawn for a club seeking to put its poor post-Sir Alex Ferguson days behind it and reclaim its dominance in the domestic league and Europe.

Even with a couple of sidelining injuries, the midfielder whose arrival comes with great expectations, was nevertheless an effective contribution in Jose Mourinho’s midfield, scoring important goals and providing crucially in the attack.
