Raja Casablanca coach Patrice Carteron has renewed his contract for another season, ending speculation that he could walk away from the club in the summer.

Raja Casablanca coach Patrice Carteron has renewed his contract for another season, ending speculation that he could walk away from the club in the summer.

The 48-year-old Frenchman who helped the team win Africa Super Cup was linked to a move away from the Green Eagles but has opted to stay.

“We reached an agreement with the coach who renewed the contract for another season, we wish him good luck,” Raja said in a statement.

Carteron took over as the coach in February on a six-month contract, which runs out by the end of the season.

He retired from active football in 2007 after playing for a number of French sides including Stade Rennais, Olympique Lyonnais, Saint Etienne and Cannes.

Carteron is most known for his time as Mali national team head coach where he led them to a 3rd place finish in the 2013 AFCON.

Before joining Raja, Carteron was in-charge of Egypt’s Al Ahly, a team that he took to the 2018 African Champions League final but was sacked after the loss to Tunisia’s Esperance.
