AFCON 2019: Cameroon Name 34-man Provisional Squad

Cameroon coach Clarence Seedorf has called up a 34-man squad to start preparations ahead of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2019.

Cameroon coach Clarence Seedorf has called up a 34-man squad to start preparations ahead of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2019.

For the third time, coach Seedorf has not included Liverpool’s Joel Matip in the team despite talks aimed at getting him to return to the national team.

Also missing from the provisional party are Franck Kom and the injured Joyskim Dawa Tchakonte.

In total, there are two local-based players in the party led by Omossoaula Simon who plays for Coton Sports and Akono Pierre Ramses who turns for Ending Sport in the Cameroon Ligue 1.

Jeane-Pierre Nsame, who plays for Young Boys Bern in Switzerland returns to the team after a two-year absence, as his last appearance for the Indomitable Lions was in October 2017 in a World cup qualifier against Algeria.

The 25-year-old has scored 13 goals in 27 matches in the Swiss Super League this season.

Ajax Amsterdam keeper Andre Onana, Fulham midfielder Andre Zambo Anguissa, Marseille forward Clinton Njie and Paris Saint Germain striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting are among the regulars included.

The Indomitable Lions are housed in Group F with Benin, Ghana and Guinea-Bissau.

The Cameroonians are defending champions and have won five AFCON titles.
