South Africa Premier Soccer League giants Orlando Pirates have signed Maritzburg goalkeeper Richard Ofori on a three-year deal.

South Africa Premier Soccer League giants Orlando Pirates have signed Maritzburg goalkeeper Richard Ofori on a three-year deal.

The Ghanaian international made 64 appearances in all competitions for the KwaZulu-Natal based side after joining from Waa All-Stars in 2017.

He completed his medical on Friday, with coach Josef Zinnbauer saying he wants to increase competition with other shot-stoppers in the team.

“I am very happy to be here. It is a dream for me to be a part of this exciting squad and to work with the technical team,” Ofori said.

“I also look forward to meeting my new teammates and being part of this exciting new project.”

The recently appointed Ghana’s second vice-captain established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in South Africa last season and his exploits caught the eye of the Sea Robbers.

The 26-year-old kept 11 clean sheets from 28 league matches and only Pirates shot-stopper Wayne Sandilands and SuperSport United captain Ronwen Williams had more clean sheets with 12 and 13 clean sheets respectively.

Meanwhile, Maritzburg left-back Tebogo Tlolane will return to The Team of Choice on a season-long loan deal after enjoying a stint with Buccaneers for one season.
