AFC Leopards Sign Prolific Striker From Etoile Du Sahel

Kenyan Premier League giants AFC Leopards have announced the signing of former Etoile Sportive du Sahel striker Bienvenue Shaka.

Kenyan Premier League giants AFC Leopards have announced the signing of former Etoile Sportive du Sahel striker Bienvenue Shaka.

The Burundian marksman has filled the void left by former Ulinzi Stars striker John Mark Makwatta who ditched Ingwe for Zambian Super League giants Zesco United in the middle of last season.

Leopards confirmed the news on their official website and social media platforms in the early hours of Tuesday, announcing that the former Ange Noir striker has joined the club on a two-year deal.

“AFC Leopards is delighted to announce the signing of Bienvenue Shaka from Tunisian top division side Etoile Sportif du Sahel,” read the club’s Facebook post.

“The Burundi international moves to Ingwe after spending two years in the competitive Tunisian league.”

Shaka had been linked with a possible move out of the Tunisian side for months but the club appeared to be reluctant on letting the player go on a free transfer.

He was hardly used prior to his departure from Etoile du Sahel, but it was during the 2018/2029 season where he enjoyed a little bit of success with the Tunisian outfit.

“I’m excited to join AFC Leopards, a big club in Kenya. My teammates and I will work hard and in unity to ensure that we achieve success for the club. To the fans, I ask for your support as you are part of the team’s success,” Shaka told the club website after signing the deal.

The 20-year-old forward was roped by the Tunisian Ligue Professional 1 club from Burundian Premier League outfit Aigle Noir.

He netted 16 times as he inspired Ange Noir to their maiden Burundian title in May 2018, a feat that booked them a spot in the CAF Champions League the following season.
