One-Time Nigeria League Golden Boy Headlining Tunisia’s Premier League

Also called The Panther, Anthony Okpotu is making the right noises as he headlines the Tunisian Premier League.

Also called The Panther, Anthony Okpotu is making the right noises as he headlines the Tunisian Premier League.

Capped with the Nigerian national team eight times, the 25-year-old is on a rebirth this term with the good fortune of goals coming his way.

After fifteen outings in the North African nation, the diminutive attacker has racked up eight goals, six of those efforts plundered in the first-half of games.

His presence in US Monastir’s frontline is hugely responsible for the side’s ascension to the third place during which they’ve scored a combined twenty goals, letting in nine in a campaign that has gotten Monastir twenty-eight points.

Having crossed from Morocco’s Difaa El Jadida, Okpotu hasn’t looked back and is on a deserved revival on the back of less than impressive spells at KF Lacti of Albania whom he signed a deal with from Nigeria’s Lobi Stars.

However, Anthony will have some more hard work to put in if clinching the golden boot tops his season wish-list with Congo and Barcelona target Guy Mbenza closing in on him in the scoring charts.
