Mohammad Shaban scored his first goal for Vipers SC in their 1-1 draw against Wakiso Giants in Sunday’s Uganda top-flight game.

Mohammad Shaban scored his first goal for Vipers SC in their 1-1 draw against Wakiso Giants in Sunday’s Uganda top-flight game.

The 22-year-old, who joined the Venoms in August 2019 from Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca, gave a good account of herself on his first appearance for his new side.

The Cranes striker opened his account in the 7th minute but the host team drew level on the 66th minute through Vianne Ssekajugo who was playing his first game of the season after recovering from coronavirus.

“It was a good workout. Obviously, I am disgusted it was a disappointing result for us because we wanted maximum points, but it was good to get 90 minutes into the legs, because l have not done that for quite some time,” Shaban told his club portal.

Shaban completed his move from Raja Casablanca to Vipers in August 2019  on a long term deal as his stay in North Africa was not as successful as anticipated.

He was unable to make the much anticipated Vipers debut last season due to a knee injury sustained while training with Raja’s first team in pre-season last year.

Shaban has played for Onduparaka FC in 2015 and current champions Kampala Capital City Authority FC in 2017 and 2018 before moving north.

He made his international debut in 2016 and was part of Uganda’s contingent in the Africa Cup of Nations in 2017 in Gabon.
