Mohamed Salisu Turns Down Black Stars Call-Up

Mohamed Salisu has rejected Ghana’s invite to take part in 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, according to reports.

The 22-year-old centre-back is said to been excited by call-up by Black Stars handler Milovan Rajevac, but he has his intention fixed on Southampton.

Salisu earned his maiden invitation for a 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe in November.

He withdrew from the squad citing an injury before being shockingly left out of a 23-man roster for a Nations Cup qualifying clash with Sudan in March this year.

The African Talent Football Academy graduate joined Southampton at the start of last season and so far this campaign, he has made over 19 Premiership appearances.

His first season in England was blighted by injuries, restricting him to only 12 league appearances.

Salisu turned for Real Valladolid whre he spent two seasons before being snapped up Southampton.

In Ghana, the youngster played for Kumasi Barcelona Babies now known as Corners Babies and at one time trained with Ghana Premier League side, West Africa Football Academy (WAFA).
