Liberia Knockout Cup: Who Will Reach the Final?

The finalists of the 2022/23 edition of the LFA Knockout Cup, currently known as the “Orange Cup” due to sponsorship reasons, will be known this midweek when the second leg of the semifinals kickoff at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium.

Title holders LISCR FC are a step away from reaching their sixth final after securing an advantage in the semi-finals first leg with a 2-1 win against Freeport FC.

The first leg was a tense one with Freeport FC breaking the deadlock in the 46th minute with a low shot from Prince Gbeh, but their celebration was short-lived as LISCR quickly replied through Albert Karlon a minute later.

The second half was still tense, but LISCR FC prevailed thanks to a goal from in-form striker Christopher Jackson in the 66th minute.

Both LISCR and Freeport FC FC will give it their all in the second leg to advance to the final.

Elsewhere, traditional club Invincible Eleven will be hoping to progress to the knockout final for the first time since 2011.

After defeating Watanga FC, who are competing in their third straight semi-final, 2-0 in the first leg, they will be looking to avoid a setback.

After Invincible Eleven lost 6-1 to Watnag in a league match, the two teams faced off in the first leg of the knockout cup. However, IE put on a strong performance in the knockout cup, and Moses Fredrick’s two goals in the first half were enough to give the “Sunshine Yellow Boys,” who were reduced to nine men in the second half, a victory.
