Kwara United attacker Abdulsalami Abdulsalami has undergone an operation on a leg injury he suffered in last Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League duel against Wikki Tourists FC of Bauchi.

The 26-year-old came off after a worse challenge with a Wikki defender in the first half of the 1-0 win against Usman Abdallah’s side.

In an interview, Kwara United general manager Bash Badawir confirmed the winger’s surgery went on as planned, under the supervision of experienced doctors, and he will continue to be monitored before beginning his rehabilitation process.

“We had to embark on the surgery at one of the topmost government facilities in the state in other to revive the boy’s career,” said Bash, who has just returned from a tour of Europe.

“We’ve resolved to do all within our powers, as Management, to ensure our players are not neglected while injured.”

Abdulsalami’s injury has come as a huge blow to the Kwara United technical team who had just started having faith in Abdulsalami despite primarily failing to cope up with the team.

The latest update reveals that the winger could be out for up to eight weeks although he could return after six weeks.

However, Kwara United gaffer Abdullahi Biffo has enough cover in Abdulsalami’s place with the likes of Sadiq Suleiman, Promise Damala and Victor Alegbe who are all good enough to take up the role.

Kwara United currently sit second-bottom of Nigeria Professional Football League table are hopeful of a better placing when the league resumes.
