Ghana Premier League side Accra Hearts of Oak has confirmed the appointment of Serbian coach Kosta Papic as their new head coach.

Ghana Premier League side Accra Hearts of Oak has confirmed the appointment of Serbian coach Kosta Papic as their new head coach.

Papic replaces Edward Nii Odoom who has been in charge of the club since last season and oversaw Hearts’ opening two games of this season against Ashanti Gold SC (2-2) and Inter Allies (0-1).

It would be his second stint with the Phobians having been in charge of the team when they last won the league in 2008/2009 season.

The well-travelled tactician will be assisted by Asare Bediako, who was appointed assistant coach in November.

Papic holds qualifications in physical education from the University of Novi Sad, in the former Yugoslavia, and has experience in both coaching and management of soccer in the highest level.

Before joining Hearts of Oak, he coached South African sides Martizburg, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs and Nigerian sides Lobi Stars, Enugu Rangers and Enyimba International.

He was appointed national coach of eSwatini (formerly known as Swaziland) in December 2018 and left the role in December 2019.
