Kenyan Midfielder Joins South African Side Kaizer Chiefs

Kenyan international Antony Akumu has joined South Africa Premier Soccer League giants Kaizer Chiefs.

Kenyan international Antony Akumu has joined South Africa Premier Soccer League giants Kaizer Chiefs.

The Naturena-based side took to their social media platforms on Wednesday afternoon to unveil the well-travelled Akumu as their player.

Chiefs did not disclose the details around the midfielder’s contact but he could be available for selection against Black Leopards this weekend.

Akumu’s signing comes a week after the Amakhosi confirmed they have parted way with Gahanaina James Kotei, who joined the club from Tanzanian giants Simba SC but rarely featured for the team.

The former Zesco and Al Khartoum player has rich experience and Amakhosi fans will remember him when he netted for Zesco as they knocked Chiefs out of the Confederation Cup play-off round last January.

Akumu, who is a no-nonsense ball-winning central midfielder, has 38 caps for the Kenyan national team and is said to be the country’s best-kept secret.
