Keita Will Be In Egypt, Guinea FA Boss Insists

Guinea Football Federation president, Antonio Souare insists that Naby Keita will be part of his nation’s 2019 AFCON team.

Guinea Football Federation president, Antonio Souare insists that Naby Keita will be part of his nation’s 2019 AFCON team despite his club, Liverpool announcing that he’ll be out for at least two months with an abductor injury.

Keita, was taken off during last week’s 3-0 thumping by Barcelona and in an interview with the club website, the Liverpool boss announced that the former RB Leipzig man will miss the biannual African showpiece.

“Bad news, a high-grade adductor injury with the tendon rupture so it keeps him out for at least two months,” he said.

Souare has however rubbished Klopp’s announcement and insisted that the attacking midfielder will be in Egypt for AFCON.

“First we wish a very good and fast healing to Naby, as far as I know, the adductors cannot prevent him from playing the African Cup of Nations 2019.” The adductors [injury] is two to three weeks of unavailability. The Liverpool coach has to pull himself together, let the doctors do their job,” he said.

He further took a swipe at the German tactician insisting that the player belongs to the state first and not the Reds.

“Naby Keita belongs to a state before belonging to Liverpool. I remind the Liverpool coach a little bit of the rules if he does not know it. So it’s hasty and pretentious to make statements like this. What we do know is that Naby Keita will play at the African Cup of Nations 2019, ” he added
