Benin will play three friendly games in preparation for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The Squirrels will be slugging it out with Mauritania on June 11 before taking on Tunisia six days later and then face Guinea in their final warm-up on June 19.

A reliable source, who requested anonymity, told Ducor Sports that much work has been put in the planning to ensure that Michel Dussuyer’s men play teams with similar styles to their AFCON oppositions.

“We’ve worked closely with the coach and the great support of the FBF to finalize these games,” the source said.

“Coach [Dussuyer] stressed the importance of playing teams with a similar style to their Africa Cup of Nations opposition and we’ve got three going to Egypt.”

Benin are in Group F of the tournament and will kick-start their campaign against Ghana on June 26 before confronting Guinea-Bissau on June 29 and Cameroon four days later.

The Squirrels will be making their third appearance in the competition where they aim to make it to the group stages for the first time.
