It’s Going Down for ‘Rio’: We Are Minutes Away From a Potential Classic, Phelps vs. Le Clos

Yesterday, in perhaps the most theatrical moment at the Olympics, the world caught a glimpse of what appeared to be intense psychological warfare between Chad Le Clos of South Africa and Micheal Phelps.

In the psyche room, things got heated when Le Clos instantly started shadow boxing directly in front of the most decorated Olympian of all time. Phelps responded with a “death stare” like the world has never seen.

There is a bitter history between the two gold medal Olympians. At the 2012 London Games, Le Clos, shocked the world when he snatched the gold from an unbeatable Phelps at the time. You can bet that after coming out of retirement for another run for Olympic gold, Phelps marked this day on his calendar. Likewise, you can bet Le Clos is ready.

The stare down and mental games were fun, but all that matters is what happens in the water tonight.

Tonight, we’ll find out who wants it more.
