Green Buffaloes Down Determine Girls As ASFAR Overcome Simba Queens

Green Buffaloes started their CAF Women’s Champions League campaign with a 4-0 win over Determine Girls in a Group A opener played at Stade Prince Heritier Moulay El Hassan in Rabat, Morocco.

Maweta Chilenga, Natasha Nantyangwe, Hellen Chanda and Ireen Lungu struck the goals for the Zambian league champions, who moved to the top of the standings after one game.

Chilenga found the back of the net on the 8th minute before Nanyangwe added the second at the half an hour mark.

One minute later Chanda extended Buffaloes lead before Lungu sealed the big win for the giants in the 58th minute of the match.

Marthaline Moore came close to pulling one for Determine Girls on the hour mark, while midfielder Mabinty Camara had a penalty appeal turned down by the referee a few minutes later.

Meanwhile, Simba Queens opened their Champions League campaign on a losing note as they fell 1-0 to hosts ASFAR in the other Group A match played in Rabat.

Ibtissam Jraidi scored the only goal that separated the top-tier sides when he clinically beat Simba Queens goalkeeper Gelwa Lugomba with a spectacular finish.

Jraidi got the chance to put ASFAR in front after connecting Ghizlane Chhiri ball that was failed to be cleared by Simba defence in the 67th minute.

The hosts could have ended the with a bigger scoreline, but Aziz Raabbah failed to convert from a number of clear chances created.

In search of an equaliser, Simba Queens coach Charles Ayiekoh brought in Barakat Olaiya and Koku Kipanga but found no breakthroughs as the Moroccan held on to snatch the maximum points.
