Gor Mahia Set To Unveil Vaz Pinto As New Coach

Record Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia are set to unveil former Accra Hearts of Oak coach Carlos Manuel Vaz Pinto as their new mentor.

Record Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia are set to unveil former Accra Hearts of Oak coach Carlos Manuel Vaz Pinto as their new mentor.

Ducor Sports can exclusively reveal Vaz Pinto, who recently resigned as the Phobians coach, has already agreed on terms to sign for the Nairobi-based club just two months after parting ways with Brazilian tactician Roberto Oliveira.

Oliviera arrived at the KPL giants on October 10, replacing Steven Polack, who had left the club on mutual agreement.

However, he was banned by the Confederation of African from sitting on the touchline over his qualifications.

Gor Mahia have since confirmed his departure, with various reports indicating that he was allowed to travel back to Brazil at the start of December.

“Gor Mahia have now reached a deal with Carlos Manuel Vaz Pinto and he will be unveiled on Monday,” the source privy to the transfer, and who did not want to be named, told Ducor Sports on Saturday.

“The club was keen to keep Sammy “Pamzo” Omollo who has been coaching the Gor during continental matches, but it seems they failed to agree on terms. Omollo decided to stay at Posta Rangers and it is the reason they turned for Pinto.”

This publication understands that Pinto has signed a two-year deal and is set to name his assistant coach by the end of the coming week.

Pinto last handled the FC Famalicão U-23 from September 2019 to June 2020 playing 26 matches, winning just 4, losing 11 and drawing 11.
