Gaffer Dumas on Mehdi’s Exit: Even Madrid Separated With Ronaldo

JSK Kabylie’s French coach Frank Dumas has reacted to forward Mehdi Benaldijia’s contract termination saying even Real Madrid had to part ways with Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 27-year-old’s sudden departure had tongues wagging after chairman Cherif Mellal summoned the player to his office announcing news of his contract nullification on mutual consent.

Mehdi, crucial in the club’s retention of its top-flight status after a near relegation last season, had no public spat with Kaylie’s tactician with his exit linked to his insistence to play only as a left-winger.

And speaking for the first time about the footballer he calls a “nice human being but likes social media too much,” Dumas said even European Champions Real Madrid separated from their record scorer Ronaldo, downplaying the possibility of Mehdi’s exit leaving any vacuum unfilled.

“The departure of Benaldjia will have no impact on the future of the team. It’s the life of a sportsman. Today it’s him, tomorrow it may be me and so is life in football. Even Real Madrid have separated from Ronaldo,” he said.
