French-born Victor Beckons Algeria

Paris-born defensive midfielder Victor Lekhal has made a come-and-get-me plea to Algeria’s coach Djamal Belmadi.

Paris-born defensive midfielder Victor Lekhal has made a come-and-get-me plea to Algeria’s coach Djamal Belmadi.

The 24-year-old reportedly tops the Algerian national team coach’s wish-list as Belmadi looks to bolster his squad as he targets launching an assault on the 201 9 Africa Cup of Nations title. The tournament’s venue is yet to be determined.

The Desert Foxes have long sealed a place into next year’s finals having topped their group with ten points.

However, there is a game lurking which is the North African nation’s final qualifier against Gambia whom they drew 1-1 at home in September.

Belmadi has only pride to play for and is intent on testing players he hasn’t had time to accord playing minutes with second-tier French outfit Le Havre’s captain being one of them.

The left-sided playmaker has himself voiced interest this morning.

“No, I have never played for Team de France as a youngster. If Algeria calls me soon, I will join the ranks of the selection without the slightest problem. Besides, I cannot wait for someone to call me,” he told Le Buteur.

Valued in excess of £810,000 in the transfer market, Victor qualifies to play for Algeria through his parents.
