FC Platinum will jet out on Friday for Tanzania where they are set to battle Simba Sports Club for a ticket in African Champions League group stages.

The team, under Norman Mapeza, will depart out of the county aboard Ethiopia Airline which will fly them to Addis Ababa before heading to Dar es Salaam.

Confirming the news, FC Platinum spokesperson Chido Chizondo said the team will spend a week in Tanzania due to Covid-19 protocols.

The match is set to be played on January 5 at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, with the Platinum miners set to return home three days after the encounter.

“There is a serious challenge with international flights hence the team has to leave early,” said Chizondo as quoted by Chronicle.

Platinum harbor hopes of reaching the Champions League group stage for the third time in a row after beating Simba 1-0 in the home leg.

A draw would be enough to see Norman Mapeza’s charges sail into the mini-league phase of the competition.
