Coton Sport Run Riot Against A Helpless Napsa Stars

A gluttony of goals by Coton Sport gave themselves a comfortable 5-1 home win against Napsa Stars in a CAF Confederation Cup Group B match played at Roumde Adjia Stadium in the Cameroonian city of Garoua.

Souleymanou Aboubakar’s men took control from the onset, as Sibiri Sanou looked lively down the left flank with his pace and skill.

Coton Sport nearly went ahead in the 11th minute, Sanou combined well with Lambert Araina, who eventually teed up Daman Bouba from 12-yards, but the forwards’ effort crashed onto the crossbar.

However, Bouba made up for that miss ten minutes later, as he delightfully picked out Araina, who side-footed home from six-yards out for the opener.

The home team bossed the game and Solomon Banga then missed a sitter from point-blank range with 30 minutes played.

The Cottoners got their second on the 35 minutes courtesy of Souaibou Marou from three-yards out, after Sanou broke free down the left flank.

Coton Sport were dominating and had it not been for the post on more than one occasion in the first half they should have been even further ahead as they headed into the half-time interval only 2-0 up.

Napsa Stars, meanwhile, were on the back foot throughout the first half and failed to create any clear cut openings.

The resumption of the second-half though saw the floodgates open up as Coton Sport continued to press and could’ve had a fifth from Thomas Etta’s rasping strike, but Muchelenga’nga saved.

The Cottoners really looked up for the game and stretched Napsa Stars, who looked shell shocked and flat as Coton Sport dictated proceedings and forced the visitors into chasing shadows.

The movement of the home side was at times scintillating and a marvel to watch as dangerman Sibiri Sanou rifled the ball past Marumo at the near post, after being played in by Ali.

The scoring did not end there for Coton Sport with Ferdel Ebandza joining the on the rout as the midfilder showed good composure to emphatically put the ball beyond the keeper.

Napsa Stars had a chance to get on the score-board in the 84th minutes from a loose ball, but Emmanuel Mayuka fluffed before David Odhiambo went wide from a free-kick.

Coton Sport added their fifth in the 87th minutes as Ebongue did well to tee up Francis Alemi in the area and the winger fired a low effort past Muchelenga’nga.

Doisy Soko netted a consolation goal in the last minute after robbing the ball from feet of Coton Sport defender before calmly slotting past Narcisse Nlend.
