Carlos Kameni Makes Shock Move To Djibouti

Former Le Harve goalkeeper Idriss Carlos Kameni has joined Djiboutian side Arta Solar 7 on a reported two-year-deal.

The Cameroonian has been out of action since leaving the 19-time Turkish champions Fenerbahce in August 2019.

Kameni,37, left the club with a year left to his deal and was widely linked with a return to Spanish football, having previously played for Malaga and Espanyol.

But after almost two seasons without a club, the veteran goalkeeper is back to the game.

CameroonOnline claim that Kameni has penned a long-term deal with Alta Solar 7 as the club seek to raise their level and profile.

He is believed to have met with their president before making his decision to join the African side which is the home of former Cameroon internationals Alex Song and Dany Nounkeu.

Arta Solar 7 are reining Djibouti Premier League champions which automatically guarantees them a place in next season’s African Champions League.

The team participated in the last three versions of the CAF Confederation Cup, crashing out of the competition in the preliminary round on both occasions.

On the international level, Kameni has 74 caps and was part of the Cameroon squad at the 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
