Kenyan Champions Gor Mahia are set to miss out on the services of a key defender as they prepare for a CAF Confederation Cup match-day five fixture against Zamalek

Kenyan Champions Gor Mahia are set to miss out on the services of a key defender as they prepare for a CAF Confederation Cup match-day five fixture against Zamalek set to be played on Sunday in Alexandria, Egypt.

K’ogalo who face the Cairo giants in a Group D tie will be without defender Shafiq Batambuze who is serving a one-game suspension.

Speaking to the club portal, the club Chief Executive Officer Lordvic Aduda confirmed that the Ugandan International will miss the crucial tie.

“We will miss out on the services of Ugandan Shafiq Batambuze who is out on suspension having accumulated consecutive yellow card bookings but striker Dennis Oliech is fit for the match having recovered from a knock sustained in one of the team’s training session,” he said.

Aduda also says that the club have been given best reception in the country and they have inspected the facilities that will be used for the encounter.

“We are all fine, the team arrived safely in Cairo Tuesday morning and were received well by Zamalek officials and equally gave the team a good bus for the two and a half hour ride to Alexandria where we will be battling it out with the host,” he concluded.

The Kenyan-top flight side touched down in Cairo on Tuesday morning and will be seeking to make a double over Zamalek having emerged 4-2 winners a fortnight ago.

A win in Alexandria on Sunday will give Gor Mahia a huge boost to reach the next round and march towards their dream to add another CAF trophy to their cabinet.
