Sudanese giant Al Hilal El Obeid Interested in Ugandan Defender

Sudanese Premier League giants Al Hilal El Obeid are in talks for former Kaizer Chiefs defender Godfrey Walusimbi, with a view of signing him.

Sudanese Premier League giants Al Hilal El Obeid are in talks for former Kaizer Chiefs defender Godfrey Walusimbi, with a view of signing him.

Walusimbi is currently unattached after parting ways with Amakhosi at the end of January this year.

The 29-year-old, who previously also played for Gor Mahia and Don Bosco in his career, has been training with Ugandan Premier League side Express FC.

“The deal could be on the cards. The negotiations have started. In fact, the negotiations are ongoing for Al Hilal and the player,” a source told the Ducor Sports.

There are also unconfirmed reports of interest in the player’s services from two unnamed clubs from Algeria and Egypt respectively.

The talented left-back parted with Kaizer Chiefs five months after penning a three-year deal with the Johannesburg-based club.

Walusimbi had joined the club on August 30 last year from Kenyan champions Gor Mahia and made only 10 league appearances for the side.

With the transfer window set to close on 31 March, Obeid still have some time to try and negotiate a deal with Walusimbi’s agent for the signature, or else Ibrahim HusseinHussein technical team may have to look elsewhere for a suitable replacement.
