Egyptian side Al Ittihad Alexandria have completed the signing of Guinea-Bissau attacking midfielder Toni Silva.
The 24-year- old requested to make a move to Egypt after struggling to break into the South Africa giants Mamelodi Sundowns’ starting line-up since joining them before the start of the season.
Negotiation between both sides were completed an hour ago with the news being broken by Silva’s representative, Godwin Emmanuel of Gzedsports Management.
The forward arrives with a big reputation having been in the junior ranks of both Chelsea and Liverpool as a youngster.
During his brief stint with the Brazilians, Silva managed two goals in 11 appearances, though he has not featured in a Premiership contest since November.
Earlier on, there were reports suggesting that Silva was on Zamalek’s shopping list as well as on South African giants Cape Town City and Baroka.
Founded in 1914, Ittihad, who are based in Alexandria, have the third largest number of fans in Egypt, after Al Ahly and Zamalek.
Born in Guinea-Bissau, Silva moved with his parents to Portugal and played for Navigators under-17 and U-18 squads.
He later switched his nationally to Guinea-Bissau and made debut in a 3-2 victory over Zambia in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in 2016.
