South Africa Premier Soccer League side Bloemfontein Celtic has appointed John Maduka as their new head coach.

South Africa Premier Soccer League side Bloemfontein Celtic has appointed John Maduka as their new head coach.

Maduka, with extensive experience at Phunya Sele Sele, takes over from Lehlohonolo Seema who left the club for Chippa United on Monday morning.

Celtic also announced Abram Nteo as the assistant to Maduka while Simon Gopane will remain as goalkeeper coach.

“Bloemfontein Celtic confirms the appointment of John Maduka of the club and we have promoted Abram ‘Wire’ Nteo as the new assistant coach with Simon Gopane still as the goalkeepers’ coach and they will work hand-in-hand with John Maduka,” the club said in a statement.

“They’ve all got a good working relationship as they played together at the club.

“Abram ‘Wire’ Nteo was the MDC head coach and they have previously been promoted from the MDC to the senior team.”

Maduka is not without the club experience as he spent five years as a Celtic player between 2004 and 2009 before being handed a different position at the club.

He was an assistant to Seema for more than two years and was at one time thrown at the deep end of his career when Serema Letsoaka was sacked from head coach role.

The Malawian legend will be expected to guide Phunya Sele Sele to a top-eight finish in the remaining seven matches of the suspended season.
