Biashara United Still in Dar es Salaam Ahead of Al Ahli Tripoli Clash

Biashara United Mara have failed to travel to Benghazi for their CAF Confederation Cup return leg clash against Al Ahli Tripoli.

The Tanzanian Premier League side failed to travel to Libya as planned and is still stranded in Tanzania ahead of their return leg clash of the CAF Confederation Cup on Saturday.

Biashara were due to travel on Tuesday to Benghazi for the return leg against Al Ahly but the trip was cancelled owing to logistical issues.

The club has since written to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) requesting for the game to be pushed forward owing to a failure to get a means of travelling to Libya.

“Biashara United tried each and everything possible mean to secure a flight to Libya, there is evidence they secured visas on time, there is evidence they had tickets which they could have used to fly Benghazi on Tuesday,” a source told Ducor Sports.

“Otherwise the club management are doing their best to make sure the team travels before the end of Saturday; we are working on it.”

Asked to explain why the Tuesday trip aborted, another source at the club said: “There are many things and I cannot explain now, just call me after two hours and I will be able to give you full details of what happened and what time the team will travel.”

Biashara qualified for the next phase of the competition after they managed to secure a 3-0 aggregate win against Dikhil of Djibouti  in a two-legged affair.

On the other hand,Al Ahli Tripoli reached the next round after a 4-0 aggregate win against Sudanese Premier League outfit Hay Al Wadi.
