Biashara United ask CAF to Postpone CAF Confederation Cup match Against Al Ahli Tripoli

Biashara United Mara announced that their upcoming CAF Confederation Cup match against Al Ahli Tripoli could be postponed.

The Tanzanian Premier League outfit is scheduled to host the Libyan club in the first round second-leg encounter at the Benina Martyrs Stadium on Saturday.

Al Ahli are trailing 2-0 on aggregate after losing at home in the first-leg encounter which took place at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.

Biashara released a statement on Saturday morning indicating that they have written to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and asked for their match to be postponed.

“We have requested through CAF a postponement of our CAF Confederation Cup 2nd Leg first round match scheduled for today, Saturday 23th October,” a club statement read.

“Developing story. Further updates will follow.”

Biashara are now waiting for CAF to respond to their request as they look to advance to the next round of this season’s Confederation Cup.

Peter Odhiambo’s side will progress to the first round if they avoid a defeat against  Green Army in the second-leg clash.

The winner on aggregate between the two teams will progress to the next round where they will face one of teams that will be relegated from CAF Champions League.
