RS Berkane coach Mounir Jaouani has heaped praise on his charges after Sunday’s 1-0 win over Zamalek in the first-leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final played at the Stade Municipal Stadium in Berkane.

The Moroccan side earned the victory thanks to Togolese striker Kodjo Fo-Doh Laba’s strike at stoppage time.

Speaking after the game, the Oranges coach was thrilled by the result as Berkane utterly dominated their opponents and are now step closer to winning their first African title.

“My players performed well, and we had so many chances to score,” he said.

The second leg that will be played in Alexandria on May 26 is expected to be more mental for Berkane and coach Jaouani has predicted that it will be a tough game.

“We know the second leg match will be difficult, but I think today’s goal was the goal of the championship,” he added.

Their opponents, Zamalek, have not tasted success at the continental stage since defeating Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca in the African Super Cup in 2003.
