Zamalek Coach Disappointed After Loss To Berkane

Zamalek coach Christian Gross was left disappointed after his side suffered a 1-0 loss at the hands of RS Berkane on Sunday night.

Zamalek coach Christian Gross was left disappointed after his side suffered a 1-0 loss at the hands of RS Berkane on Sunday night.

The former Tottenham Hotspurs and Zamalek coach feels his players were done by the last minute defeat in the first leg of CAF Confederation Cup final.

“We are very sad with the last minute goal,” Gross said in an interview after the game. “We will have to deal with our errors as quickly as possible so that we can fight during the second leg match to win the championship.”

Gross, however, believes his side deserved something out of the clash as he feels they matched their Berkane in terms of attack.

“We had some opportunities to score, but our players didn’t succeed and missed more than one chance against a strong opponent, who have got quality players,” the 65-year old gaffer added.

Togolese forward Kodjo Laba netted at stoppage time in the match played at the Stade Municipal de Berkane in Mococo.

Zamalek will host the second leg of the final next week at Borg El-Arab Stadium in Alexandria as they will be looking for their first CAF Confederations Cup title and Egypt’s second.
