Al Ahly Provide Update On Injured Stars

Al Ahly have provided an update on two of their injured players ahead of their Egyptian Premier League outing against National Bank SC.

The Red Devils face Bankers with the intention to extend their winning streak after a 4-0 win over Ismaily on Wednesday.

National Bank opened their 2021/2022 season with a 3-0 win over El Gaish in a Premier League opener played on Monday.

While Al Ahly will be facing attack-minded outfit that lost their last competitive game in March this year, they have said two of their start will miss the action.

Egypt international Mohamed El Shenawy is in his final phase of recovery program after icking up a hamstring muscle injury earlier this month during Egypt’s 3-0 victory over Libya in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Since making his international debut in a 2-1 friendly defeat versus Portugal, he has been a regular face in the North African team’s squad.

Following the retirement of legendary Essam El-Hadary in 2018, El Shenawy has since taken over as the country’s most trusted man in goal.

Meanwhile, seasoned winger Walid Soliman remains in long-term injury absentees after suffering a head concussion during Al Ahly’s  6-1 victory over Niger’s USGN in the second leg of the CAF Champions League round of 32.

Soliman was forced to leave the game and transferred to the hospital where he underwent several medical check-ups which later confirmed that he was okay.

Al Ahly are set to face National Bank SC in Matchday 2 of the Egyptian Premier League on Sunday at Al Ahly We Al Salam Stadium.
