Newly crowned African champions Esperance of Tunis have already set about retaining the Champions League title by bolstering up their ranks with the signing of Tayeb Meziani.

The striker joins on a three-and-half-year deal from Algeria’s AC Paradou. It followed after he passed a medical at the Stade Olympique Rades.

The development brings an end to the prolonged uncertainty that surrounded the player’s future with a blizzard of clubs all at his trail then.

He’s acquired to help in the outfit’s audacious plans to retain the African trophy they won weeks ago against Egypt’s Al Ahly.

Tayeb will officially join up his new teammates January next year and is tipped to provide competition for Tunisia international Yassine Khenesis who has been the Red and Gold’s leading scorer the past two seasons.

Capped with the Algerian national team, Meziani began his career with Le Havre but fell short of making the first-team of the French second tier side which led to a transfer to Lithuania’s Stumbrass in search of playing time where he featured for just four matches before returning to Algiers with Paradou.
