AFCON Group Results Update So Far

Group D (Ghana, Uganda, Mali, and Egypt) is left to battle it out tomorrow in the opening games of the AFCON. So far, the results are much to expectation but, there is no certainty going forward because of the competitiveness the tournament has shown so far.

GROUP A

Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Gabon and Guinea-Bissau all share a point each. It will be nerve-wracking here on, to see who dominates the group. Even so, with the pace and intensity each team has opened with, there is no certainty in telling, who will go top.

GROUP B

Senegal did not waste time and secured a comfortable 3-point lead over Tunisia, to go top of the group whereas Algeria and Zimbabwe, did not give much room for either to establish superiority. The later duo brought out one of the most spectacular matches so far, to end the match in a clenching 2-2 draw.

GROUP C

Ivory Coast and Togo died down the hype of the AFCON so far. With not much to give, they played out to a goalless draw much to the fans’ surprise. But things got rather worrying for DR Congo even though they secured a win over Morocco. A red card and an injury forced the now group leaders, to rely on 9 men but Morocco’s attack was not as efficient as it should have been, to claim at least a point.
