AFCON 2021: Marco Soares Headlines Cape Verde Squad

The Cape Verdean Football Federation (FCF) have named the Blue Sharks squad for January’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

Marco Soares of Portuguese club F.C. Arouca and goalkeeper Keven Ramos of Mindelese have been named in the squad.

Ramos has been called in the squad by coach Bubista and is the only member of the squad who represents a club in Cape Verde.

Garry Rodrigues, the Galatasaray forward, who was one of the stars in 2017 Africa Cup of Nations is also in squad that has familiar faces with likes of keeper Vozinha and forward Ryan Mendes.

Cape Verde are appearing in third finals after reaching the quarter-finals on their debut in 2013 and playing again two years later.

In their last appearance in Equatorial Guinea 2015, the Blue Sharks crumbled in the group stage that boasted Tunisia, DR Congo and Zambia.

In Cameroon, they are paired against the Indomitable Lions, Burkina Faso and Ethiopia.
